January 4, 2024 – Submission Opens 

February 23, 2024 – Submission Deadline *EXTENDED UNTIL 2/23!*

February 28-March 1, 2024 – Notification to Students of Juror Decision (Students will be emailed when the decisions are finalized.)

March 14, 2024 – Deadline for Delivery of Artwork

March 25-April 28, 2024-Exhibit dates (Gallery hours: Monday-Thursday 10am-5pm and during Song Theater Events(See schedule for events.)

Sunday, April 28, 2024 – Closing Reception, Awards and College Preview Day (2-4 pm) *Students are allowed to take work home this day*

April 29-May 2, 2024-Artwork pickup

The Shelby County Arts Council, in partnership with the University of Alabama at Birmingham Department of Art and Art History and the University of Montevallo Department of Art, presents the 2024 Statewide Student Juried Art Exhibition. This show features the work of high school students from across the state of Alabama.
There is no entry fee and students in public school, private school, and home school, grades 10th, 11th, and 12th are invited to submit their art work.
Categories for submission are:
Painting-Examples: oil, acrylic, watercolor, oil pastel, etc.
Drawing-Examples: pencil, colored pencil, oil pastel, chalk pastel, pen and ink, etc.
Photography-Examples: digital and film
Sculpture-Examples: 3D work including steel, cast metals, wood, clay, found objects, 3D printing, assemblage of various objects or materials, installation, etc.
Mixed Media-Examples: collages, encaustic, printmaking, multi-media work, etc.
Digital Art-Examples: 2D digital painting or drawing, graphic design, data-moshing, pixel art, digital collage, photo painting, vector painting, etc..
2024 Exhibit Judges:
Ryan Foster – University of Montevallo
Paulina Banas – UAB
The exhibition will feature cash prizes and provides a great opportunity for students’ work to be seen by college and university faculty during our opening reception.  Students will be able to meet representatives from each school and discuss the offerings from each University.
Prizes include:
Best in Show- $500
Best in Painting- $200
Best in Drawing- $200
Best in Sculpture- $200
Best in Photography- $200
Best in Mixed Media-$200
Best in Digital Art-$200
