Entry for the 2021 Statewide High School Juried Art Exhibit opens 1/4/21!

Students will be notified whether they are accepted to the show or not by 2/26/21

Submission deadline: 2/18/21 @ midnight

The Shelby County Arts Council, in partnership with the University of Alabama at Birmingham Department of Art and Art History and the University of Montevallo Department of Art, presents the 2021 Statewide Student Juried Art Exhibition. This show features the work of high school students from across the state of Alabama.
There is no entry fee and students in public school, private school, and home school, grades 10th, 11th, and 12th (ages 15-18) are invited to submit their art work.
Categories for submission are:
Painting-Examples: oil, acrylic, watercolor, oil pastel, etc.
Drawing-Examples: pencil, colored pencil, oil pastel, chalk pastel, pen and ink, etc.
Photography-Examples: digital and film
3D Design-Examples: wood work, assemblage, sculpture, pottery, fiber/textile art, etc.
Mixed Media-Examples: collages, encaustic, printmaking, multi-media work, etc.
Jurors will be announced soon!
The exhibition will feature cash prizes and provides a great opportunity for students’ work to be seen by college and university faculty during our opening reception.  Students will be able to meet representatives from each school and discuss the offerings from each University.
Prizes include:
Best in Show- $500
Best in Painting- $250
Best in Drawing- $250
Best in 3D- $250
Best in Photography- $250

High School Juried Art Show

  • All image files must be named as follows: title of work (underscore) artist’s first and last initial(underscore)medium category. -Primary image: title of work_first/last initials_medium.jpg -Detail image: title of work(detail)_fist/last initials_medium.jpg -Digital images should be sent as JPGs, 72dpi, measure 1200 pixels on the longest side, and saved at “high” quality.
