Fine Folk Art VI – Gallery Exhibit Opens January 13, 2017

The Shelby County Arts Council announces our January art exhibit: Fine Folk Art IV.

Much like the title suggests, these artists from all over come together in their mutual love of Folk Art. Fine Folk Art IV features artists Marian Baker (Oneonta), Mary Ann Casey (Auburn), Diana Hoit (Clanton), Jim Jones (Shelby), Larry Stewart (Union Springs) and Teresa Wamble (Calera)  and the Shelby County Arts Council hope to give these artists some much deserved exposure. Opening exhibit reception January 13, 2017 from 6:00 – 8:30 pm.  Live music and food/wine.

Teresa Wamble is our guest curator for the fourth year.  Teresa’s art speciality is designing “Gourd Art” and is frequently referred to as the Gourd Lady.  While attending art shows across the state, Teresa is always on the look out for potential new artists to add to the gallery exhibit.  This year’s show promises to introduce Shelby County to some of the best folk artists around.  Marian Baker was awarded the “Best of Show” in the 2016 River Arts Fest.  Every piece of her work is inspired by life…Just ask her to tell you about a piece.  Her “Southern Sarcasim” comes through and the story entertains and delights.

The exhibit will be on display from January 13 through February 26, 2017.  Gallery Hours are Monday – Thursday, 10am to 5pm.
