Billy Joel’s career spans more than five decades, establishing him as one of the most successful and enduring singer-songwriters of his generation. A native of the Bronx and raised on Long Island, Joel’s breakthrough came with the 1973 album Piano Man, whose title track became his signature song and a pop-culture touchstone. Throughout the late 1970s and 1980s, he released a string of critically acclaimed and commercially successful albums, including The Stranger, 52nd Street, and An Innocent Man. His music effortlessly blended genres, from rock and pop to jazz and doo-wop, and his lyrics often served as vivid chronicles of everyday American life.

Known for his powerful voice and virtuosic piano playing, Joel has sold over 150 million records worldwide,  and his legacy is defined by his authentic storytelling, musical versatility, and his unwavering ability to connect with listeners, solidifying his place as a true American icon.
