2021 Statewide High School Juried Art Exhibit and Awards Reception
Sunday, April 25th 2pm-4pm
The closing reception and awards ceremony is free and open to the public.
Work will be on display to view from March 22, 2021-April 25, 2021.
Gallery hours: Monday-Thursday 10am-5pm and during Black Box Theater Events.
The Shelby County Arts Council, in partnership with the University of Alabama at Birmingham Department of Art and Art History and the University of Montevallo Department of Art, presents the 2021 Statewide Student Juried Art Exhibition. This show features the work of high school students from across the state of Alabama. Out of over 275 pieces entered into this show, only about 65 were accepted into the gallery exhibit. Judges Richard Gere (UAB) and Lee Somers (University of Montevallo) took on the difficult task of judging the exhibit. The first round of judging takes place by digitally reviewing the submissions. Once they make their selections students will then deliver the artwork to the EBSCO Fine Arts Gallery and Gere and Somers will make their finally selections for the prizes of Best in Show and the best in each category. Entry categories include painting, mixed media, photography, 3D design, and drawing.
Please join us in celebrating these hardworking young artists at the gallery closing reception and awards ceremony on Sunday, April 25th from 2pm-4pm. Everyone is welcome to attend the gallery reception.
Don’t forget to wear a mask and practice social distancing!
Winners do not need to be present to accept awards. Students will also be able to take their work home at the end of the reception.
