Attendance Policy: If an instructor is unable to meet a class or private lesson, they are required to make up the missed class or private lesson or a credit will be issued to the student. If a student is absent from a group class, the instructor is not obligated to make up the class for the student. If a student is absent from a private lesson (music or art) and does not give the office or instructor at least 6 hours’ notice, the instructor is NOT obligated to make up the missed lesson. If a student is a no call/no show for a lesson, they will still be charged for the lesson. In the event of inclement weather, holidays, building closure, etc., students will be notified. Students who are late for lessons or classes cannot be guaranteed their full lesson time. The instructor will wait 1/3 of the scheduled time for the student, the students are to do the same for the instructor.
Class Registration Fee: An annual registration fee is required to enroll in classes. This fee is $25 and is due at time of class enrollment and then once a year from the time classes start. Class registration fee is only required for weekly classes and private lessons-workshop students do not have to pay the fee.
New Students: An application form and class payment are required before class begins. If a student wishes to start a group class after the class has started, they must have approval of the instructor. A prorated fee will be acceptable only for the first month’s class. Thereafter, full class payment is required prior to each month’s class.
Repeat Students: For your convenience, a locked drop box is located at the end of the music hall and online payments are available on the SCAC website to pay for classes outside of business hours. An application form is not required after the initial enrollment.
Payment: The class payment must be paid by check, cash, or credit card by the first class of the new session/month. This will ensure a student’s space in the class.
Refund Policy: If a class is cancelled due to low enrollment, a full refund will be given. A full refund will also be given if a student gives a 2-week cancellation notice before the class starts. Credit will be issued (for use in a future class) if cancellation is made less than 2 weeks prior to class start date. No refunds or credits are granted for withdrawals made on or after the first day of class. Returned checks require a $25 fee.
Scholarships: Scholarships are available for those wishing to apply for financial assistance. Limited scholarships are available and must be approved by the committee. Please see office staff for more information or email info@shelbycountyartscouncil.com.
