The closing gallery reception and award ceremony for the 2025 Statewide High School Juried Art Exhibit was held on Sunday, April 27th in the SCAC EBSCO Fine Art Gallery. 258 students from across the state in grades 10th-12th submitted nearly over 430 works of art to this annual competition. Out of those works, judges Adam Eddy (UAB) and Min Sun Lee (University of Montevallo) selected 67 pieces to be shown in the gallery. From these selected works, Eddy and Lee made their final selections for Best in Painting, Best in Drawing, Best in Mixed-Media, Best in Sculpture, Best in Photography, Best in Digital Art, and overall Best in Show. There were also two special awards chosen by the SCAC staff; Executive Director’s Choice and Staff Choice Award.

Thank you to our incredible exhibit sponsors – UAB’s Department of Art and Art History, the University of Montevallo’s Department of Art, the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama’s Caring Foundation, and funding from the Alabama Support the Arts License Plate grant! Thank you to everyone who purchased a Support the Arts license plate! And a big thank you to all the parents, families, and teachers who support these talented kids and encourage their art journeys!

Each year entry into this exhibit opens the first week of January. Public, private, and homeschooled students in grades 10th-12th are encouraged to submit work for free in this exhibit!
