2024 Robin Nance Metz Art Competition

The 2024 Robin Nance Metz Art Competition opening and gallery reception was held on Thursday, January 25, 2024 in the Shelby County Arts Center’s EBSCO Fine Art Gallery.

The SCAC was excited to host this annual juried gallery exhibit. In 2023, the SCAC decided to rename the Adult Juried Art Exhibit to honor the artistic legacy of Shelby County artist, Robin Nance Metz, who passed away from cancer in 2022. Robin was a light to all around her and we hope this exhibit celebrates her artistic spirit and the inspiration that remains.

This year’s exhibit was judged by Artist Stacey Holloway. Of more than 85 artists who entered the competition, less than 50 were accepted to the show. Holloway certainly had her work cut out for her when she decided which pieces to accept into the show based on digital entries alone. After the accepted pieces arrived in the gallery, Holloway then came to the gallery and did the final round of judging in person. After spending several hours contemplating her choices, she made her selections, and prizes were awarded the opening night of the exhibit. Check out the gallery at the bottom of the page for the winning selections and honorable mentions.

Each fall this exhibit submission opens up to all Alabama Artists ages 18 and up.
