Summer Camp "Paris in July" a Great Success!
Over 30 children participated in the Shelby County Arts Council’s “Paris In July” Art Camps during July 16-27, 2012. Instructor /profession artists Ray Lynn Dodson, Edna Sealy, Susan Dennis Gordon and Jerry Roldan led the students on a walk down the Champs Elysees into the studios’ of Claude Monet, Mary Cassatt and Antonio Gaudi. Learning about impressionism, architecture, and self-portraits the students spent hand-on time creating their own works of art. Study included working with paint-pallet knives, pencil drawings, pottery clay and acrylic paints. At the end of the week the students were wished a fond “Au Revoir” as they departed the studio and crossed back into the quiet streets of Columbiana.
New Classes begin in the Fall. The Annual Opening House will be held on Thursday, August 23, 2012. All are invited to meet the instructors, learn about the array of classes offered and sign up through priorty registration.
