Art Abilities was an exhibit featuring the works by students with special needs from sixteen Shelby County public schools. Opening Reception: Saturday, May 7, 2011, 3:30 – 5:00pm Exhibit dates: May 7 – May 21, 2011 The Shelby County Arts Council’s Art Abilities Project is funded by the Shelby County Community Health Foundation. The Art Abilities program consists of a once-a-week supplementary art therapy program that provides motor skill development through sensory experiences; increases self-esteem and sense of accomplishment; improves social skills through cooperative arts education activities. This exhibit features works by students from sixteen Shelby County public schools that participated in this program.
