Announcing our State-wide High School Juried Art Competition

The University of Montevallo and the Shelby County Arts Council, sponsored by Regions Bank, have teamed up to create a Juried Art competition for 10th, 11th, and 12th graders. There is no entry fee - it is totally free! Our juror is Ken Proctor, former Dean Emeritus of Fine Arts at the University of Montevallo. He is currently the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Georgia State.

The deadline to enter is October 14, 2012. There will be a $500 grand prize that will go to the winner of Best of Show (to the student). There will also be up to eight $100 first place prizes that will go to the winner of each medium category. University of Montevallo will also award a $500 scholarship to a graduating senior.

Our opening reception is slated for Sunday, November 3rd from 2:00 - 4:00pm. We plan to invite Art Professors from around the state for a "College Day" during our opening reception. This will be a wonderful, one-of-a-kind opportunity for students to mingle with Art Professors from Colleges and Universities from all around the state, all in one day!

We are so excited about this project and are working hard to make it as successful as we can. This is a state-wide contest that any 10th, 11th, 12th graders (2012 - 2013 class) will be allowed to participate.
